Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.

#genuinely vote peri #i've not seen all of her stories but my god from what i've seen the 80s writers hated her #there are some stories where she'd probably be better off dead #she seems to be in a constant living torturous hell with 6 being constantly nasty too her #this poor woman #okay specific example #her first trip after her introduction (recounted from memory so some details my be wrong)#she and the doctor unknowingly touch a poisonous plant which will kill them slowly and painfully (but fast enough she almost dies by the en #so great they need to find a cure #which is horrendously difficult to find in the best of circumstances #but these aren't the best of circumstances #they get taken hostage pretty quickly and very nearly get executed by firing squad #they get rescued by one of the most unnerving villains i think in the entire show #he creeps on peri constantly #like he gets as close to assaulting her as its possible to depict on tea time telly #and peri can't do anything about it #her life is entirely in this guys hands #like most of the time i find caves of androzani the be so hyperviolent as to be funny #but jesus christ the shit they put peri through in it #anyway by the end she's so ill the doctor has to drag her near lifeless body back to the tardis #gives her the cure and then promptly regenerates #and now peri's nice friendly doctor is uhh tv 6 #bad times: quarters

I read a lot of YouTube comments, and I respond to a lot of them too. I don't know if this is... uncouth or whatever, but I do.

Sometimes, I get comments which are wrong. Sometimes they're abrasive. People who think trigger warnings are excessive, or that something I've called racist/ableist/antisemitic, Isn't. I do talk back to comments like this. And you know?

A Lot of the time, it works.

Most people who reply back consider what I say, and I've changed their minds. It's not that I'm some great writer, it's often that they are genuinely... confused.

A lot of people simply do not know Why trigger warnings matter, because their only context is mockery and extreme examples.

A lot of people don't know what institutional racism is. If you talk to people about things they don't understand, you won't have a scholarly debate— you'll have an argument where both sides thinks the other is an idiot. I had this recently.

I come at people with sympathy and then, gently, advise them. Do not talk to them like they're idiots or scum if you want to change anything. The above comment is saying "ableism isn't real", but what they unintentionally mean is "I don't know what ableism is so I don't think it's real." This is the case a lot of the time, because people's only context for what these terms mean is increasingly mockery, memes, and political ploys.

I was once a mod on the discord of a large gaming youtuber, a phenomenally half-toxic place— most regulars chill, most random lurkers posting the most atrocious memes and not getting why it was a problem. The head mod understood protecting lgbt+ people in the rules, but didn't Get nonbinary people — he was under the interpretation they were real, but the majority were attention seekers. He cited an account on tiktok, whose schtick was gathering and reacting to "blue hair pronouns" cringe. This was his only context beyond the moral instruction "our rules should protect lgbt+ people". He would have put that rule up either way, but only through discussing it did mods realize this was his opinion, and could explain why it was wrong.

I'm not advising everyone has to talk to everyone this way, I'm saying if you're going to engage, consider trying rather than venting.

tis the season !

#the charcuterie board was devoured and ppl rly loved the cookies and the dates r usually popular #and the baked brie too!!!#and then ppl brought their own assortment of treats and drinks as well #i rly enjoyed my blackberry orange drink personally #my gf’s friend does really beautiful pottery and all the food she brought was in her gorgeous homemade pieces #was so fun i love feeding ppl and making things look pretty and festive #my gf did the insane lettering on the drink menu #and decorated so cutely #and then we all went to the halloween event at the amusement park afterwards and it was fun and cold and misty #and i mostly sat outside of haunted houses while they walked thru them haha #i struggle rly rly bad to recover from being startled and sometimes it just. turns into a panic attack even if im not like Scared?? idk #it’s stupid my body just can’t distinguish real danger from fun danger very well #but they had these “’no boo”’ necklaces i could wear so actors would then just interact w me nicely and creepily instead of jumping at me #which was still fun :-)#bummer tho i hate being mentally illlllllll #and rly embarassing bc the necklaces lit up rly bright so it was like i was wearing an im-a-weenie beacon #lolll #also shoutout to my mutual who recognized me while i was waiting for my friends and stopped to say hi LMAO that was crazy #won’t name names so i don’t dox u #but i’ve never been recognized from tumblr before was a very i like your shoelaces moment😭😭😭#top 10 most embarassing things to happen to me ever but thanks for saying hi !!!#personal

Rise of the Snakes, HANDS DOWN.

I've rewatched it so many times, and I adore this season, it's so nostalgic, and easy to digest, it brings me back to when I was 12 years old searching "Lloyd gets revenge against the ninja" on youtube only to instantly get spoiled that he was the green ninja LOL. (twelve years old me really thought he was going to become a major villain and I WAS READY TO EMBRACE THAT)

altought I also rewatch Dragon Rising alot? Probably cuz it's easy to watch it and similiar to season 1, it just feels like I'm eating a snack.

I also really like Possesion and March of the oni, but that's mainly becuase of the opening? like the opening of the season is just so cool.

and I feel like seabound is one of my top favorites becuase I am AWFUL at dealing with that type of stuff so I was sobbing so hard in the end. Same with Sons of Garmadon.

School is going so great and also I am so exhausted and also I am having an existential crisis

#teaching tag #the kids are great and I think I’m doing a good job teaching them and also I miss the ones from last year so much 😭😭😭😭😭#even though I know I will miss these too once they’re gone like why does 😭😭😭 it gotta be 😭😭😭😭 this way #it’s just a totally different vibe every time #the school year has a new flavor!!! and I hate that!!!!!#change is so bad and disgusting 😭😭😭#but also I think it’s good and I’m doing a good job keeping them moving #one of the revelations/realizations that I’ve had. is that I’m just starting to shift my focus #from …. wanting them to be moved to just wanting them to be engaged?#and I think it’s better.#I’m not quite wholly there. but I mean learning how to actually construct a class so that they are busy and their minds are being stretched #and employed and learning on multiple levels without just saying what I want to happen at them #and it’s a good shift but also a shift that’s making me sad #for whatever reason #it feels like another sign of maturity #but sometimes I miss my own highs #mostly I’m just so unbelievably tired lol.#like the physical and mental stamina required that I just don’t have yet #is so much.#but some strong starts have been made #and also (dare I say this lol) the effects of my reputation being established are also working in my favor #they’re a little bit scared. they’re a little bit more ready to engage and they’re more on board than they used to be #like. it’s happening faster. in terms of getting the class under control #and that’s nice. cause I remember it used to take weeks and weeks. months really.#and of course it’s ongoing and unpredictable.#but it’s better this time #anyway just rambling
